About The Indiana Flute Circle
Who We Are & What We Do?We are ordinary people who have stumbled across an extraordinary instrument in our life’s journey; the Native American-style flute. Many of us do not identify as ‘musicians', but we enjoy improvising music with our flutes. These flutes are very easy to learn to play and we are excited to show you how, no musical knowledge required. Once you learn the basics, you really can’t play a wrong note. We do have members who are musicians, and we have several flute makers who regularly attend, with flutes available for purchase. Some members attend because they are inspired to learn, others want to share new tunes, some play solo or join in with other members at the mic, and others come just to listen and enjoy the beautiful music. No matter the reason, we welcome you! Our gatherings are informal, so you may come at any time and stay as long as you would like. At our meetings we like to mingle, chat, discuss historical events and happenings related to Native American-style flutes, talk about music, and set aside a time to ask and answer questions or share new things about our individual flute journeys. But mostly we play play play! When And Where Do We Meet?We meet on the third Sunday of each month unless otherwise announced in the monthly email we send out. In the summer and fall, we meet from 2pm to 5pm and in the winter and spring, from 1pm to 4pm, depending on where we are meeting. Again, the specific times are announced in the monthly email. We are currently partnering with the folks at Brandywine Creek Winery who are graciously hosting most of our monthly gatherings. To keep informed on when and where we will be meeting each month as well as other Native American-style flute and circle related events, please fill out the form under "Join Our Group" on the home page to receive our monthly email announcement.
